Commercial Health Plan Discussions

COMMERCIAL HEALTH PLAN DISCUSSIONS

The finance and contracting committee continues to reach out to commercial insurers with the intent of looking for mutually beneficial partnerships. We are pleased to announce that our first agreement was signed on July 14, 2014, with Blue Cross to participate in the Quality Blue Primary Care (QBPC) initiative.

QBPC is collaboration between STQN adult primary care practices and Blue Cross to proactively manage patients with vascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease through performance reporting from the electronic health record. We continue to examine the market for opportunities such as this that improve the health of our community and reward the physicians in STQN for providing quality care.

In addition to the contracting efforts, the STQN Finance and Contracting Committee is developing the methodology for a distribution model for potential income from shared savings and incentive bonus pools. There will be ongoing work over the next several months to develop a plan that will be shared with the network.
