The Easter Bunny got an early start on this weekend’s festivities on Thursday, hopping by St. Tammany Cancer Center – A Campus of Ochsner Medical Center to lift the spirits of invited cancer patients and their families.
In addition to the traditional photo op and egg hunt, those in attendance enjoyed games, crafts, food – and, of course, fully loaded Easter baskets.
The annual event is made possible by the nonprofit Ruby’s Kids, with key contributions from Winn-Dixie, St. Tammany Health Foundation and cancer center staff.
In all, 23 families – including 43 children – took part in the celebration. In addition to seasonal goodies, each family was sent home with a food box stocked with nonperishable staples donated by Winn-Dixie customers as part of a food drive hosted by the Covington store.
