Dear Partner in Care,
Greetings from the new patient tower! Or more correctly, from the ground-floor conference center and administrative wing. We are so grateful to have finally opened this long-awaited resource to bring St. Tammany Health System into its next phase of growth and service.
The second and third floors introduce 30 private critical care rooms and 40 private medical-surgical rooms, as well as expansion of our Level 3 NICU, and a host of exciting new technology. The first-floor lobby has a beautiful time capsule from our shared governance committee of nurses, who plan to revisit the contents in 50 years.
Please see the story, photos and video about a small, limited ribbon-cutting we held before the space went into service by visiting StTammany.health. Once fire marshal rules for crowds gathering indoors settles back into something akin to normal, I hope to personally greet you at a future event in our beautiful space. But for now, please know it has passed all its inspections and gone into service.
Next step will be Phase 3 of our Expansion 2020 project, renovating older parts of our existing hospital now that Phase 1 (parking) and Phase 2 (bed tower) are complete. Look for publishing of the public bid notice coming soon, and expect much more to come on what that will mean for world-class healthcare within our walls.
Gratefully,
Joan Coffman, FACHE STHS President & CEO
