Linking arms, changing lives | Partners in Care

Joan Coffman, jcoffman@stph.org

Dear Partners in Care,

Happy New Year!

With the dawning of 2025, I – like many people – have been doing a little reflection on the year that was. In the process, one thought I keep returning to has to do with the second word in this message and how important it is to effectively meet the healthcare needs of our community: “partners.”

It is only two syllables long, but it is word that carries weight.

Like each of you, St. Tammany Health System as an organization is dedicated to improving the health of people across the Northshore. But, in that vein, we also realize we can accomplish so much more by working together with community partners to get it done.

That is why you see us so active in the ongoing Healthier Northshore initiative, which unites a litany of Northshore stakeholders in the interest of improving local population health metrics – and, right along with it, the local quality of life.

It is why you saw us join with other hospitals across the parish for the just-released Community Health Needs Assessment to identify and address what our patients and neighbors see as the Northshore’s most pressing healthcare needs.

It is why you routinely see us linking arms with other health systems – what I like to call “coopetition” – to accomplish our shared community goals.

And it is also why I am so impressed and encouraged by the work of St. Tammany Quality Network in 2024 to bring together you, our local community physicians, in that same spirit.

So, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the vital work you do and for working alongside us so steadfastly for the betterment of the health of this incredible place we call home.

St. Tammany Parish is undeniably healthier for it.

I cannot wait to see what we achieve in 2025 – together.

Gratefully,

Joan M. Coffman, FACHE
President and CEO, St. Tammany Health System
