Partners in Care: Weathering the storm

Joan Coffman, jcoffman@stph.org

Dear Partner in Care,

Our health system weathered the storm, and we pray you did as well! Thank you so much for all you have done, are doing and will do as we respond together to care for our community amid a pandemic and aftermath of a major hurricane.

Ida did a number on this area, and I know so many of our patients and their families still face personal challenges to recover. In fact, you, your staff and families may need help, too. We are here to help and want to do all we can to support our care teams. Please let us know how we can help.

Blessedly, impacts on St. Tammany Health System locations were truly manageable. Sadly, buildings housing our Home Health, Hospice, Express Care and Pediatrics practices sustained damage. Other than those two buildings, STHS properties fared well and our wonderful support services and IT colleagues heroically worked to restore facilities and relocate affected services. For you, your staff and patients, please be aware the contact methods for home health and hospice remain the same; they have simply relocated their office adjacent to our Palliative Care clinic, 1010 Polk St. Similarly, St. Tammany Pediatrics has the same contact information but relocated to 1520 Highway 22 west in Madisonville with our family practice there, and the Express Care clinic continues operating out of 71338 Highway 21.

The hurricane expedited decisions we need to steer strategies to better serve our patients in the service district. Please let us know how we can help you in your recovery as well.

Gratefully,

Joan M. Coffman, FACHE
St. Tammany Health System president and CEO
