Partners in Care: A season of gratitude

Joan Coffman, jcoffman@stph.org

Dear Partner in Care,

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and Joyous Kwanza! However you celebrate the holidays, I hope you have a mug of something warm and tasty close at hand as you read this.

If your family’s holidays are anything like mine, the next couple of weeks for you will be filled with a whirlwind of hugs, celebration and the blessing of joyful noise. Amid it all, though, I always like to find time to reflect on the year that was while also looking forward to the promise of the coming year.

In both cases, there’s a lot for which we should be grateful.

To be certain, 2023 – in which it feels as if we finally put the COVID pandemic behind us – was a good year. Not only are we blessed to live and work in such a wonderful community, but we are just as blessed to be part of such a thriving organization as St. Tammany Quality Network.

As much as the Northshore has grown in the past several years, projections indicate it will only continue, with an expected growth rate of 5% to 7% in the next decade. While that sort of growth comes with built-in challenges, it also brings opportunities, and STQN is as well positioned as ever to take advantage of them.

Under the leadership of Dr. L. Phillips Jenkins, STQN in 2023 began an effort – underwritten by St. Tammany Health System – to promote its member-physicians through a digital initiative built around the online platform Healthgrades.

As the calendar changes to 2024, you can expect to see further marketing strategies put into place, from the publishing of STQN-specific magazine articles and radio interviews to the introduction of the new STQN Badge – a sort of seal of approval – issued to the network’s members.

As I see it, these investments in St. Tammany Quality Network are really investments in our community as we continue our efforts to build a healthier Northshore.

Thank you for your dedication to that mission. Thank you for the part you play in caring for our Northshore family, friends and neighbors. And thank you for being a part of the STQN family.

Gratefully,

Joan M. Coffman, FACHE
President & CEO, St. Tammany Health System
