Dear Partner in Care,
Happy National Doctors Day!
Today, Thursday, March 30, is a day for us to recognize physicians for their steadfast commitment to our community, so let me be the first to say thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you for the long hours you continue to log in the name of your patients.
Thank you for the untold number of late-night phone calls you have fielded over the years from panicked patients and their families.
Thank you for your tireless dedication to remaining at the forefront of your field.
Thank you for being leaders in our community and pillars of strength, intellect and compassion.
Most of all, thank you for caring – for me, for my family, for my friends and for my neighbors across the Northshore.
The roots of Doctors Day can be traced to 1933 in the small town of Winder, Georgia, when Eudora Brown Almond – the wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond – came up with the idea of honoring that community’s physicians. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush made it a national observance. Ever since, the country has been pausing every year on March 30 to salute the selfless contributions of physicians to their communities and to society as a whole.
Here in western St. Tammany Parish, we are blessed to have such an active and dedicated medical community. In addition to St. Tammany Physicians Network, our partners at Ochsner Health and the multitude of credentialed members of our medical staff, that also includes the physician-led St. Tammany Quality Network, which since its founding has united hundreds of local physicians in the interest of delivering quality care at more affordable costs.
The Northshore is a better, healthier place thanks to your commitment and to your involvement in STQN.
So, allow me to say it again: Thank you, doctor. We see you. We appreciate you, and – all year round, but especially today – we celebrate you.
Gratefully,
